Volumes

Search in plain words

Search your books in plain words

Ask your library the way you'd ask a friend. Type “unread books in the hallway” or “Austen I've lent out”, and Volumes builds the filter for you, on your own device.

How it works

Say what you're looking for

Type into search and Volumes offers the filter as a pill to tap. Common phrasings are understood on every device; harder ones use Apple's on-device model where Apple Intelligence is available. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Or build it yourself

Combine authors, publishers, series, locations, lists, reading status, who borrowed a book, lent out, borrowed, and the year you finished.

  • Sort by Recently Added, Name, Author or Published, either way round.
  • “Loose ends” filters: no shelf recorded, no cover, not in a series.

Save the ones you use

Save a filter and it sits as a pill above your library. Rename them, rearrange them, and reopen one in a tap.

From anywhere

Find a book from Spotlight, or say “Search Volumes for…” to Siri and the library opens already filtered.

Questions

Good to know

Is what I type sent to a server?

No. Turning words into a filter happens on your device. You can switch AI Filter Suggestions off in Settings, under Search.

Do I need Apple Intelligence?

No. Everyday phrasings work on every device. Apple Intelligence lets Volumes understand more unusual ones.
