A Bookly alternative: track your reading, without the streaks
Bookly is a reading tracker with timers, goals and streaks. Volumes tracks your reading calmly, with your page, your progress and every reread, and puts it next to everything else about your books: where they are, who has them, and what you underlined.
Bookly doesn't document a library export. If you can get a spreadsheet with ISBNs out of it, Volumes reads it; if you started on Goodreads, import that export instead. Otherwise, scan your shelves in, a whole shelf at a time.
Open Settings in Volumes
Under the library title on iPhone, the gear on iPad, and ⌘, on a Mac.
Import from Another App
Tap Choose a File and pick the export. Or share the file to Volumes from Files or Mail.
Add to My Library
Check the count, then add. Volumes tells you what came in and anything it couldn't use.

Privacy and price
What it costs you
Bookly
The free version shows ads, and its App Store privacy label lists identifiers and usage data as used to track you across apps and websites.
Free with ads, or Bookly Pro at $4.99 a month, $29.99 a year or $79.99 once (US App Store prices).
Volumes
No account and no ads. Your library is kept in your own iCloud, and Volumes doesn’t track you across other apps or websites. The privacy policy sets out the little that leaves your device.
Free on the App Store, with no subscription.
Bookly
Reading without the clock
Bookly is built around sessions: start a timer, read, stop it, keep the streak alive. That suits some readers well.
Volumes keeps no clock. It remembers your page, your progress and each time you've read a book, and its statistics describe your library rather than your pace. Nothing goes red if you take a week off.
Questions
Good to know
Does Volumes have reading timers?
No. Volumes tracks the page you reached and every time you've read a book, but it doesn't time reading sessions.
Can I get my books out of Volumes later?
A full library export is coming soon. Until then you can share any single book or quote, and your library lives in your own iCloud rather than on our servers.
What do I need to run Volumes?
An iPhone or iPad with iOS 26 or later, or a Mac with macOS 26 or later. Volumes is free on the App Store.
