A home library app for your whole book collection
Volumes is for people who own a lot of books and want to know what they have, where it is, and who borrowed it. Your catalogue lives in your own iCloud and follows you across iPhone, iPad and Mac.

How it works
Get the books in quickly
Start with the shelf in front of you. Most books go in with one scan, cover and details filled in for you.
- Scan a barcode and the book is added, cover and all, or scan a whole shelf and review it in one go.
- Add a book from Safari, Amazon, Goodreads, Bookshop, Blackwell's or Waterstones with Share, even a Kindle or Audible page with no ISBN.
- Bring your books over from Goodreads, StoryGraph or LibraryThing, or any spreadsheet with an ISBN column.
- Photograph a missing cover, or the back cover for a missing description.
Know where every book is
A catalogue is only useful if it can send you to the right shelf. Record where each book lives, like “Living Room”, “Study” or a box in the loft, and filter by it later. Scanning a shelf sets the location for every book on it at once.
Lists, series and a wishlist
Keep Up Next, Favourites and a Wishlist, or make your own lists. Record a book's series and its number, and read them in order. When you buy something off the wishlist, tap I've Bought This and it moves onto your shelves.
Find any book in seconds
Combine filters by author, series, location, list, reading status or who has borrowed it. Type in plain words, like “unread books in the hallway”, and Volumes suggests the filter, worked out on your device. Save the ones you use often as pills above your library. “Loose ends” filters show the books with no shelf recorded or no cover, so tidying up has a to-do list.
Private by default
There is no Volumes account. Your library is stored on your devices and synced through your own private iCloud database, which we cannot read.

Questions
Good to know
Do I need an account to catalogue my books?
No. Volumes has no sign-up and no sign-in. Your library is kept in your own iCloud account and syncs between your iPhone, iPad and Mac automatically.
Can I catalogue books that have no ISBN?
Yes. Add one from a web page with Share, even when it has no ISBN, search for it by name, or save it by hand when it can't be found online. Photograph its cover if it has none.
Can I bring my existing catalogue with me?
Yes. Volumes imports exports from Goodreads, StoryGraph and LibraryThing, and reads any spreadsheet with an ISBN column. Books already in your library are skipped, so importing twice is safe.
